Musella Lasiocarpa

Musella Lasiocarpa

Summary

Allegedly the third hardiest banana after Musa Basjoo and Musa Sikkimensis. Lovely Blueish leaved that are stiff and upright. Its not a true banana plant.

2013

I bought a double plant at the end of 2012 from a local garden center, this is the earliest picture I can find, from June 2013

It was planted in the back garden and grew well- July:

October
I also split the plant as they look good planted singly

2014

They were over wintered in the shed, here seen in may getting some fresh air

August. It has grown really well, I love the stiff upright leaves

2015

March

Unfortunately I must have watered it too much for the cool spring and it rotted and I nearly lost it. a single new pup formed and this year has been one of salvage, at the end of a summer in the greenhouse its still quite a small plant

November 8th

Hopefully this will get through the winter OK

2016

30th March It lost its leaves over the winter. I have had it on a heat mat in the conservatory to get it started

September 10th - It has put on some growth this year but not amazingly. about 3ft at the moment
