Aloe aculeata
Summary
I believe this to be Aloe aculeata due to its spines all over the leaves having white bases to them
Hardy to around -6 if dry, at time of writing it is small enough to move to the cold greenhouse for winter, where it will not be watered all winter
2014
July. A colleage at work gave me a trough of succulents he inherited with a new house purchase, as you can see it was a total mess
I potted it up and kept it in a sunny spot in the garden, I mistakenly thought that it wouldnt like to be watered and by the end of september it had turned red (and still looked a mess)
It spent winter in the cold greenhouse
2015
Here pictured at the end of march, as you can see it has appreciated some cool weather and some watering and is starting to look nice
4th June and in a different pot, it still has a lean to it but is looking healthy
22nd November
We had our first frost last night (-1c). here it is before being put away for winter, a nice healthy bright green
2016
April
Its first trip outside the greenhouse, only watered a couple of times over winter
It looks like we have some new growth coming out
17th April
This year we will see how it does planted out, it has a good root-ball
