Ensete Montbeliardii - Taller and slimmer than Ensete Maurelii, and apparently more hardy. A spectacular plant with upright leaves
The stems are a lot darker than Maurelii too
April 2016 - I bought these from Jungleseeds in 1 litre pots.
8th May - Planted out one in the front garden in full sun
one in the back in semi shade
24th June - Now over 4ft tall, as you can see it is outgrowing the Maurelii on the left which was the same size when purchased
21st July- up to 6ft tall now:
7th September, we're up to 8.5ft now
5th November, dug up. they both reached 10ft
Dumped in the very messy shed for a few days upside down or at an angle to dry out
before being put in the greenhouse with all the other bananas, kept at +5c minimum temperature
Do you know of any websites that sell this? Great blog BTW!!!
